Sri Rossa Roslaina Handiyani, known to her fans as Rossa, had sold more than 12 million records worldwide. Although she was just nine when she made her debut with a children’s album, commercial success came years later with 1996’s Nada Nada Cinta. But it wasn’t until the release of Tegar in 1999 that Rossa was finally immortalised as Indonesia’s Queen of Pop. Known for her warm, soulful sound, Rossa has also tried her hand at sparkling synth-pop and recorded her songs in several different languages. Over her decades-spanning careers, she’s truly defined and redefined the meaning of ‘diva’ in Indonesia’s mainstream music scene.
